Book review: City of Ghosts (Cassidy Blake #1) by Victoria Schwab

Title: City of Ghosts (Cassidy Blake #1)
Author: Victoria Schwab
Laura’s rating: 5 stars

I can’t stress enough how much I like the world building by Victoria Schwab, I have read I believe six of her books, and I’m just amazed by her creativity, all her series are very different but there’s something that remains, that writing style that makes me read without bumps, without hitting the breaks, like a very smooth highway.

Cass has an unusual life, she can see ghosts and interact with them, as a matter of fact her best friend Jacob is a ghost, and to make everything more perfect her parents make a living writing books about the supernatural! Isn’t that great! But I swear in like a non-cheesy way.

So, it turns out her parents are going to start a TV Show, and they are going to travel to “haunted” cities, visiting sites and such. Here she has a chance to discover her true powers and acknowledge what happened to her, what made her able to see ghost, and have a very cheeky one attached to her.

This is a short-ish book. I loved how I could read all day and how I had a few good laughs and frights. I will admit I was hopping to get more of the Jacob/Cass relationship. But I will look out for the next installments, see if it gets freakier.
