Daniela’s review

Oh yes! This book.. this series is just awesome! I love it soooo much.

Well, when I first started this series I was completely hooked. I’ve read a few books about angels, but this is definitely one of my favorites. The plot is has a lot of things, in a good way. There’s always something going on, someone to protect, but it never turns annoying. You keep reading and reading, wanting to know more.

In this fourth book you already know and love Evie. Yes, sometimes she can be a bit annoying, because she just won’t let Reed make the strategic decisions. But you know her intentions are good. She wants to protect the ones she loves, her family. So now, Evie is running. She’s running from Brennus. Now that she has Reed back, she doesn’t want to let go, and why would her? Reed is awesome. She knows Brennus is a monster, she understands he’s obsessed with making her “his queen”, but truth be told, he just wants her to obey him, to own her, just like he owns his army of Gancanaughs. So she’s now doing everything she can to stay away from him.

“Just when you think that maybe Brennus is running’ out of crazy, he shows up with a brand new can of it… economy size.”

Yes Brennus is crazy. In the previous books, I was so confused because, even though I could never like/love him better or as much as Reed… He messes with your head, he knows how to do that. The guy makes you believe he truly loves and cares about Evie’s sake. You end up having a soft spot for him. (Well done Amy!) But in this book he shows no mercy. Not even for hischroí.

Here, we are introduced to a few new characters who are supposed to fight Brennus. We meet Evie’s dad, the great Tau and his two friends, Cole and Xavier. But we’ve heard of them before, you just don’t realize it until Amy explains it. Tau is protective and wants Evie to obey him. But she won’t have that. He tends to be a bit over protective and not in a good way. He clearly doesn’t know how to be a Seraphim and a father separately. He’s the greatest angel, everyone looks up to him and respects him and I’m sure he means well, he just wants Evie to be safe. He’s a very intriguing character and I can’t wait to read more about him. I have soooo many questions about him, about his life with Evie’s mom, about Evie herself.

“You smell like the night to me,” I whisper as my arms involuntarily tighten around him.
“Evening was when I could get closest to you,” he replies in a soothing voice. “When you were a baby, I could hold you through the dark hours… just you and me.”

Then there’s Xavier. The A-H of the story. The most hated guy (for me) in the whole story (yes, he took Brennus’ spot). From the very first moment he showed up, I just knew he meant trouble. Why, you may ask? Well, because of that goddamn history he has with Evie. She was once his, but not anymore, and that pisses him off. My problem with him is just that everything is about what he wants, what he needs, and he’s only focused on keeping her by his side. It doesn’t matter what she wants, it doesn’t matter what he has to do to make her stay, to make her remember, he’ll do it without a single hesitation. So, I ask… What’s the difference between what Xavier does and what Brennus does? Neither of them will leave her make her choices, they just want to own her. There’s something Tau says to Evie about Brennus, about him only wanting her to survive for his own pleasure, not for her to exist without him… And that’s exactly how Xavier wants her.

Oh, and then there’s Anya. God! I was SO happy when she came around. Finally! Thanks to her I now like Russell. First, she’s a complete badass. She wouldn’t take crap from anyone, not even her aspire. I just liked how completely serious and devoted she was when she made a decision, even when she was even more scared than she cared to admit, she would take her fear and owned it. And never back down.

And well… We have Reed! I don’t think there’s that much to say. He is perfection. I love his devotion to Evie, his love for her is endless, it is pure and honest. Can we please have mooooore of Reed’s POV? I mean, it would only be fair, right?

“The most fortunate day of my life, was when I stumbled across you, Evie. I need you to stay with me… please… I will love you every day until my last. I promise you that I will.”

I can’t wait to finally read the 5th book, I feel like I’ve been waiting FOREVER.

So Amy, pretty pleaaase, hurry! 🙂
