This was so what I needed.

I read this in just a couple of days because I just couldn’t stop. I loved every single thing about it.

Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania: population two thousand outside of tourist season.

And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed attempt at a relationship, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has saved: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.

Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works.

For a time.

But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. What begins as an immediate friendship quickly turns into something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something that Catherine is afraid to trust.

Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine…before the spark fades?

Now, if you haven’t read this, let me tell you a bit about it. Catherine Wright is a quiet kind of girl. She wasn’t always like this, but life and bad decisions made her take some actions so things wouldn’t go south yet again, less of all for everyone there to see. She couldn’t allow it. Catherine is a girl who’s had a pretty normal life until she came across this prohibited romance. It was all she ever wanted (or so she thought) and all she ever she needed (again, or so she thought). But you know life, you know assholes, they tend to get in the way, mess everything up and move on to the next. So now Catherine must face her new, completely altered life, and just face the consequences of her actions. Out of the public eyes, puh-lease. Well, like I said, life is always getting in the way, sometimes making sure you face all your fears, and it’s just waiting to se how you’ll react, what you’ll do. That’s what happened when she came across a car wreck and had a decision to make: “should I do something? Try to save a guy’s life and take the chance of burning myself, quite literally?”.

K.A. Tucker has always gotten my attention. Her books have this way about them that always appeal to me and I just can’t seem to get away (not that I want to). Her characters are so unique and wonderful. You see them make mistakes, you see them learn and grow. It’s just such a wonderful thing to be a part of. And UNTIL IT FADES was just a reminder of this.

This book got my attention the second I read the blurb. I was curious to see what happened in the story, what happened to the characters and the second I started it, I was completely in. I couldn’t get out, even less when Brett came in. O M G. I completely adored him. To.Death. I really liked the way the characters evolved into something else, grew out of their shells and enjoyed being themselves.

This is such a sweet and wonderful story about doing what’s right, facing your fears head on and definitely not caring what people say, since they’ll always have their damn opinion. I’m not going to lie, the book was a bit obvious, and the “issue” might have been resolved way too easily or maybe it was lacking a bit of depth. But overall, if you’re looking for something light, something to make you smile and sigh out of happiness, this might be what you’re looking for.

Completely recommend it.
